Lisa Pulliam, LAPC, Founder of Stableminded

Lisa Pulliam, Your Guide

Lisa Pulliam, the founder of StableMinded.us, is not your typical horsewoman! While her earliest memories include pony rides and playing with her rocking horse, she did not necessarily grow up with horses. As a middle schooler, she had the privilege of going on day-long trail rides with her uncle, with her arms wrapped around his waist as they galloped through state parklands. As a high school and college gal, she participated in riding camps and the club team, but quickly realized the competition world was not for her.

While she dreamed of one day growing up and owning a beautiful bay gelding for herself, that dream did not come true until she hit her late forties and met Kodiak Jack, a 16'2 hand, off-the-track and seven-year-old abandoned racehorse.

Lisa brings into her horsemanship the perspective of a mental health professional with a passion to help fellow equestrians experience calm and confidence in and out of the tack. She is the author and creator of the HorseClass.com program, Finding Calm: Helping Riders Navigate through Fear and Anxiety, which was developed out of her personal comeback experience, utilizing her skills and knowledge as a trauma-informed coach and therapist.

Lisa is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, holding a Master's of Clinical Counseling with a Trauma concentration, as well as a certified by the Natural Lifemanship Institute, Life Breakthrough Academy as a Coach, and Highlands Ability Battery Consultant, and is EMDR trained. Through her business, Stableminded.us, she works with individuals, families, and groups providing counseling, coaching, consulting, and education for improving overall wellness as well as personal and professional performance to clients online as well as in person at Concordia Stables.

When she’s not serving clients, you can find her balancing her time at the stables, enjoying her barn family and beloved Kody, and at home savoring the time with her husband of 29 years, all-grown-up children, two son-in-laws, a beloved grandson, and being entertained by her quirky Golden Retriever.

With Lisa's help, I no longer feel shame and failure for my trials and tribulations with my horse. I feel confident enough now that I know I can keep riding her, but my thinking has progressed to whether we are a good match. I feel that I am now in a better place mentally to decide what to do for both of us.
