Discover the Heart of Liberty
Ready to discover how liberty can build your connection and confidence to improve your interactions with your horse, or the horse you lease or lesson on?
Liberty is a beautiful way to develop a foundation for handling and riding skills.
In our one-day clinic, you will learn these four key elements of liberty, which are:
- Freedom of Choice: At liberty, horses are not constrained by tack or ropes. This freedom allows them to move freely and express themselves, which helps us understand their frame of mind as well as ours. Working together at liberty thus provides a way to grow with our horse by developing communication skills, deeper connection, and confidence.
- Clear Communication: Effective liberty work requires clear, consistent, and subtle communication. Horses profoundly respond to body language, vocal cues, and other non-verbal signals, so we will help you recognize what you're saying in how you interact with a horse and also how to interpret what they are communicating to you.
- Understanding Horse Behavior: Understanding the science behind horse behavior and body language is crucial to anticipating and responding to the horse’s needs and reactions not only in the arena and round pen, but in the barn, pasture, and off-property. We will debunk the myths about behavior and help you develop a science-based perspective that will improve your and your horse's connection and confidence.
- Building Confidence through Safety: Like humans, horses need to feel safe and confident to learn and develop. We'll teach you how to assess and cultivate safety with your horse, or the horse you lease or lesson on, so that you can both continue to grow in skill to meet your goals.

Founder of StableMinded.us, Counselor, Coach, & Educator
Lisa Pulliam is the founder of StableMinded.us, a counselor, coach, and educator passionate about helping people stabilize and thrive. While she works with a diverse clientele, one of her specialties is serving equestrians in developing confidence and navigating through fear and anxiety. She is the author and creator of Finding Calm: Helping Riders Navigate through Fear and Anxiety, an online course with a companion book released by HorseClass.com in 2024.
Lisa has been riding horses since she was a little girl and discovered that competing at the college level was not as much fun as simply hanging out with the horses and her barn mates. She returned to riding as an adult and is living out her bucket-list dream of owning a big beautiful bay. She brought home Kodiak Jack, a rescue OTTB, in 2022. Their journey has reinforced her belief that connection, like what you experience at liberty, is key to growth and healing.
