Highlands Ability Battery Assessment
Personal & Professional Development Tool for Youth and Adults
The Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) is a unique assessment in that it measures your abilities based on performance rather than perception. The HAB was founded on the work of research scientist Johnson O’Connor, who devoted his life to the study of human engineering, establishing that every individual is born with a pattern of abilities unique to him or her.
The comprehensive HAB report, communicated by a trained consultant and coach, provides life-changing insights and strategies essential for personal and professional development. These results provide clarity for college and career placement as well as leadership and team development.
Each report details personal style, driving abilities (the way you solve problems), specialized abilities (creative and learning styles), and vocabulary. Together, these results describe work-type abilities, learning channels, and relational strengths/weaknesses as well as links to training/college opportunities with career projections and up-to-the-minute job databases.
The HAB measures basic human abilities such as:
- visual speed and accuracy
- ability to work with numbers and designs
- inductive reasoning
- analytical reasoning
- idea flow
- verbal aptitude
- structural visualization
- musical aptitude
- several applications of memory
What is involved in taking the Highlands Ability Battery?
The first step is a pre-HAB coaching session to clarify where you find yourself today and what you hope to gain from taking the HAB. This session will also prepare you for the HAB with detailed instructions and strategies.
The second step is complete the HAB, which consists of 19 virtual worksamples that are taken online over an estimated three hours in total. You do not have to take the whole Battery at once, but can do each worksample individually or break them up into smaller groups.
Upon completion, you will receive your customized reports and book your HAB feedback session to review your results and strategize how you process and utilize the information.

There were so many things I wanted to do with my life that I couldn't figure out how to settle on one thing. Through coaching sessions and the Highlands Battery Assessment, Lisa facilitated the process of identifying my goals, resulting in moving to Colorado and living the life I longed for.”
