Coaching for Equestrians

find calm . deepen connection . cultivate confidence

Can you remember what it was like to enjoy your ride and spending time at the barn with your heart horse?

Somehow, some way, the joy you once had is gone. Instead fear, anxiety, worry, and insecurity have crept in through a series of disappointments and unfortunate incidents.

Fellow equestrian, you are not alone in this experience. Feeling more chaos than calm is so normalized in the equestrian world that we come to expect it along with the drama that shows up in barn culture. But it doesn't have to stay that way.

Calm is not a nicety. It absolutely can be your reality.

With calm comes confidence, and with confidence comes progress. Yes, you can not only enjoy your riding and horsemanship, but also develop and grow in skill as you discover the art and science of the calm equestrian life.

Mental Fitness for Equestrians

Recommended for Equestrians Overcoming Setbacks and Fear

It is no secret that getting back into the saddle or even handling a horse on the ground, can be emotionally and physically overwhelming once fear sets in, no matter the original cause. Fear can become paralyzing, especially after a fall or handling an incident on the ground. So while the mantra may be "just do it scared," that's actually the worst thing you can do for yourself and the horse you're interacting with. What you both need is to "do it grounded" as you build trust and learn how to co-regulate together.

Includes:

  • 6 sessions
  • Growth Tracker
  • Access to Finding Calm Retreats

$780 or two payments of $400

Equestrian Coaching Client

With Lisa's help, I no longer feel shame and failure for my trials and tribulations with my horse. I feel confident enough now that I know I can keep riding her, but my thinking has progressed to whether we are a good match. I feel that I am now in a better place mentally to decide what to do for both of us.

Meet Your Coach

Lisa Pulliam, the founder of StableMinded.us, is not your typical horsewoman! While her earliest memories include pony rides and playing with her rocking horse, she did not necessarily grow up with horses. As a middle schooler, she had the privilege of going on day-long trail rides with her uncle, with her arms wrapped around his waist as they galloped through state parklands. As a high school and college gal, she participated in riding camps and the club team, but quickly realized the competition world was not for her.

While she dreamed of one day growing up and owning a beautiful bay gelding for herself, that dream did not come true until she hit her late forties and met Kodiak Jack, a 16'2 hand, off-the-track and seven-year abandoned racehorse.

Lisa brings into her horsemanship the perspective of a mental health professional with a passion to help fellow equestrians experience calm and confidence in and out of the tack. She is the author and creator of the HorseClass.com program, Finding Calm: Helping Riders Navigate through Fear and Anxiety, which was developed out of her personal comeback experience utilizing her skills and knowledge as a trauma-informed coach and therapist.

Lisa is a certified Natural Lifemanship Trauma-Informed Equine-Assisted Specialist and Coach, Life Breakthrough Coach, and Highlands Ability Battery Consultant, holds a Master's in Clinical Counseling with a trauma concentration, and is EMDR trained. Through her business, Stableminded.us, she works with individuals, families, and groups providing coaching, therapy, and leadership development for improving overall wellness as well as personal and professional performance to clients online as well as in person at Concordia Stables.

When she’s not serving clients, you can find her balancing her time at the stables enjoying her barn family and beloved Kody, and home savoring the time with her husband of 27 years, all-grown-up children, and being entertained by her beloved Golden Retriever.
